Thanks for the tips—very valuable!! One I would add is try to “date” potential Board members before “marrying” them. Meaning, ask them to serve on a committee first. It’s a great way to test drive them without a full commitment. You’ll learn if they show up to meetings, come prepared and if they are easy to work with.

Agree! Just so long as you have the same protocols in place for managing conflict of interest and confidentiality!
